After a monster collaborative effort from the team at Global-Roam and Greenview Strategic Consulting, our Generator Report Card was released on May 31st, 2019. A full announcement and purchase instructions are available on WattClarity.
The report includes 180 pages of objective detailed analysis and key insights on the past 20 years of generation in the NEM, along with 330+ pages of ‘statistical digest’ for every unit operating in the market over the past decade.
Various national and online media have since covered it’s release and referenced key insights, including:
- Stephen Letts, Business Reporter for the ABC, published his summary of the report — National Electricity Market lacks ‘holistic thinking’ and risks ‘failing to keep the lights on’
- Petter Hannam of the Sydney Morning Herald covered it’s major findings, writing “National electricity market becoming riskier as stresses mount: report”
- Matthew Warren of the Australian Financial Review later referenced the GRC in the opinion piece “Australia – the unreliable energy superpower”
But this only works if the neighbouring state doesn’t have similar weather conditions. In their recent Generator Report Card, energy consultants Global-Roam found that wind and sunshine tend to be strongly correlated across the east coast states.
- Giles Parkinson referenced the initial release of the report on Renew Economy: Energy transition has only just begun, but solar has already changed the game.
